FORT WILLIAM HENRY
A Living History Museum, children can experience life in the Kings Army as a soldier at Fort William Henry. On the southern end of Lake George, this fort played an important role in the French and Indian War. It is mentioned in the “Last of the Mohicans” by James Fenimore Cooper. It is open May through October.
Ausable Chasm is a beautiful natural area where you can hike on nature trails in the midst of a primeval Adirondack Forest, or float down the Ausable River on rafts or tubes. It is less than an hour from North Hudson.
NATURAL STONE BRIDGE AND CAVES
The oldest rock in North America, and the largest marble cave entrance, is right here in the Adirondacks at the Natural Stone Bridge and Caves! Located just half an hour from North Hudson Jellystone Park™. The caves open for the season on May 19th.
LAKE GEORGE STEAMBOAT COMPANY
Lake George is less than an hour from our Adirondack Jellystone Park™. The Lake George Steamboat Company offers a variety of Cruises on their 3 large cruise ships, The Minne-Ha-Ha, an authentic Paddlewheeler, The Mohican, and the Lake’s largest cruise ship, The Lac du Saint Sacrement. OLYMPIC CENTER AND MUSEUM
Home to many Winter Olympic Games, Lake Placid is a short one hour drive from our Jellystone Park™. Learn about and see artifacts from past Olympic games and other winter sports competitions in the museum. You can even take a tour of the Olympic Sports Complex
WHITE WATER RAFTING
If you want to go white water rafting, ARO Adventures takes whitewater rafting trips on the Hudson River, with its base about 45 minutes away from North Hudson. Their season runs from April through October. Whitewater Challengers in North River, New York is less than an hour away. They begin rafting trips April 7.
SIX FLAGS GREAT ESCAPE
The Six Flags Great Escape amusement park is in nearby Lake George. It is acres full of all the exciting rides, wholesome entertainment, good food, and other fun you know and expect from any Six Flags. Opens for the season May 19th.
WATER SLIDE WORLD
Water Slide World is the #1 water park on the East Coast, with over 35 water slides including Inner Tube Slides, Speed Slides, Sled Slides, Cannonball Slides, and many, many more. Located in Lake George, it is open from June 19 through Labor Day.
SANTA’S WORKSHOP NORTH POLE
Just over an hour from Jellystone Park™ is Santa’s Workshop in beautiful North Pole, New York! Our theme park specializes in entertaining young children and the young at heart. Unlike other regional parks, our attractions are geared to please children 48 inches and SMALLER! It opens for the summer season in late June.
MAGIC FOREST PARK
Magic Forest Park, just an hour from Jellystone Park™, is an amusement park for younger kids (aged 10 and under) and their families. It opens for the season on Memorial Day weekend
PAINTED PONY RODEO
The oldest weekly rodeo in the US is just an hour from our Adirondack Jellystone Park™. Kick off the evening with an awesome BBQ Buffet; then dust off your boots and mosey on over to the corral, for a real Championship RODEO. Great fun for everyone! Tough cowboys, beautiful cowgirls, funny rodeo clowns, outstanding animals and so much more at the Painted Pony Rodeo.
BEN AND JERRY’S
Who doesn’t like ice cream?! You can take a guided factory tour of the Ben and Jerry’s headquarters located in Waterbury, VT. About two hours away, it is worth the drive.
VERMONT TEDDY BEAR FACTORY
You can take a tour of the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. Their slogan is, “Handmade in Vermont, guaranteed for life.” It is just over the border in Shelburne, Vermont, about a one and a half hour drive. Check their website for dates and times of tours.
VON TRAPP HOMESTEAD
If you loved The Sound of Music, you will want to visit the Von Trapp Homestead, two and a half hours from North Hudson in Stowe, Vermont. They offer lots of outdoor activities on the grounds for children and adults. They also offer a choice of dining options.
GRANT COTTAGE STATE HISTORIC SITE
About an hour and fifteen minutes from the campground is the Grant Cottage State Historic Site in Wilton, New York. This is where President Ulysses S. Grant died in 1885. The cottage has been kept essentially the same since the Grant family lived there. It is open to the public Memorial Day through Columbus Day some days of the week. Check the website before going.
